Bootleg
Bootleg Mountain rises in the Purcell Mountains west of Kimberley, a city that grew up around the Sullivan Mine, for decades the largest lead-zinc mine in the world. The mountain's name is older than most people guess: it was printed on a Geological Survey of Canada map of the Cranbrook area in 1915 and made official in 1937, though no record explains who chose it or why. Local memory offers a colourful clue. Between Bootleg and neighbouring Puddingburn Mountain lies St. Mary's Gap, where, the story goes, bootleggers competed to control whisky coming north from Montana. Today the mountain is better known to riders than to smugglers. Volunteers with the Kimberley Trails Society built a downhill mountain-bike network on its flanks, part of the trail culture that now defines this corner of the East Kootenay.

Our solid hardwood cribbage boards are modeled with actual topographic data to capture any place on earth. Each board has a storage space for three sets of metal pegs behind a custom-etched stainless steel door. Boards measure roughly 350mm (13.5”) long by 190mm (7.5") wide by 90mm (3.5”) tall and are finished with tung oil for durability and a slight sheen. Additional options include a custom message or logo etched on the stainless steel door tag (32 characters max, +$10), and an engraved name, message or logo on the side or underside of the board (+$20 standard, +$40 with a contrasting filler). Side and underside engraving is sized to fit the board, typically no taller than 1 inch (25 mm). For a logo, send us a PNG through our contact form after you order, with your order number.
Our products are designed, crafted, and finished in Alberta, Canada.
Disclaimer: Because we use solid hardwood, some boards may have natural imperfections.
