Machu Picchu, Quechua for “old peak,” was built around 1450 as a royal estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti. It sits at about 2,430 m on a ridge between two summits, Machu Picchu Mountain and Huayna Picchu, with the Urubamba River curving around it on three sides. Its builders shaped stone so precisely that walls stand without mortar. Only about a century after it was built the estate was abandoned, likely in the upheaval of the Spanish conquest and the diseases that came with it. Local farmers never forgot it, and Peruvian explorer Agustín Lizárraga visited in 1902, but it was Hiram Bingham's 1911 visit that made it famous abroad. Peru declared it a Historic Sanctuary in 1981, and UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage Site two years later.

Our solid hardwood cribbage boards are modeled with actual topographic data to capture any place on earth. Each board has a storage space for three sets of metal pegs behind a custom-etched stainless steel door. Boards measure roughly 350mm (13.5”) long by 190mm (7.5") wide by 90mm (3.5”) tall and are finished with tung oil for durability and a slight sheen. Additional options include a custom message or logo etched on the stainless steel door tag (32 characters max, +$10), and an engraved name, message or logo on the side or underside of the board (+$20 standard, +$40 with a contrasting filler). Side and underside engraving is sized to fit the board, typically no taller than 1 inch (25 mm). For a logo, send us a PNG through our contact form after you order, with your order number.

Our products are designed, crafted, and finished in Alberta, Canada.

Disclaimer: Because we use solid hardwood, some boards may have natural imperfections.
