Maroon Bells
The Maroon Bells are two summits, Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, standing about half a kilometre apart in the Elk Mountains southwest of Aspen. Surveyors with the Hayden Geological Survey named them for their colour, a deep reddish brown that comes from Maroon Formation mudstone. The rock is as treacherous as it is beautiful: it breaks easily and sheds loose debris, and after eight people died in five separate accidents in 1965 climbers began calling the pair the Deadly Bells. Maroon Peak, the higher of the two, reaches 4,317 metres (14,163 ft). The view of them from the Maroon Creek valley is among the most photographed mountain scenes in Colorado, drawing around 300,000 visitors a year to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness.

Our solid hardwood cribbage boards are modeled with actual topographic data to capture any place on earth. Each board has a storage space for three sets of metal pegs behind a custom-etched stainless steel door. Boards measure roughly 350mm (13.5”) long by 190mm (7.5") wide by 90mm (3.5”) tall and are finished with tung oil for durability and a slight sheen. Additional options include a custom message or logo etched on the stainless steel door tag (32 characters max, +$10), and an engraved name, message or logo on the side or underside of the board (+$20 standard, +$40 with a contrasting filler). Side and underside engraving is sized to fit the board, typically no taller than 1 inch (25 mm). For a logo, send us a PNG through our contact form after you order, with your order number.
