Twin Sisters
Southwest of Mount Baker, the Twin Sisters stand out from the surrounding Cascades in both shape and colour. The Nooksack call the mountain Kwetl'kwítl' Smánit, the red mountain, and geology explains why. Instead of granite or volcanic rock, the range is built of dunite, a dense, coarse rock made almost entirely of the green mineral olivine. Exposed to rain and air, the iron in it oxidizes and the cliffs weather to a light reddish-brown. A 1963 study by geologist Donal Ragan described the Twin Sisters mass, covering some 93 square kilometres (36 sq mi), as one of the large dunite bodies of the world, and concluded it had been driven upward along a fault well after the region's main mountain building. The higher summit, South Twin, reaches about 2,114 metres (6,935 ft), with small glaciers tucked into the northeast faces.

Our solid hardwood cribbage boards are modeled with actual topographic data to capture any place on earth. Each board has a storage space for three sets of metal pegs behind a custom-etched stainless steel door. Boards measure roughly 350mm (13.5”) long by 190mm (7.5") wide by 90mm (3.5”) tall and are finished with tung oil for durability and a slight sheen. Additional options include a custom message or logo etched on the stainless steel door tag (32 characters max, +$10), and an engraved name, message or logo on the side or underside of the board (+$20 standard, +$40 with a contrasting filler). Side and underside engraving is sized to fit the board, typically no taller than 1 inch (25 mm). For a logo, email a PNG to info@knurl.ca after you order.
Our products are designed, crafted, and finished in Alberta, Canada.
Disclaimer: Because we use solid hardwood, some boards may have natural imperfections.
