Zugspitze
The Zugspitze, highest point of the Wetterstein Mountains and of Germany, rises south of Garmisch-Partenkirchen with the Austrian border running across its western summit. Its name probably comes from the Zugbahnen, the avalanche paths that score its slopes each winter. The first documented ascent was made on 27 August 1820 by Lieutenant Josef Naus, guide Johann Georg Tauschl and a surveyor's assistant named Maier, who were mapping the region for the Bavarian atlas. In 1851 a priest, Christoph Ott, had 28 bearers carry a gilded iron cross to the west summit. The mountain is built mostly of Triassic Wetterstein limestone, and two small glaciers still cling to its flanks. A weather station has recorded the summit's harsh conditions since 1900, and a rack railway tunnels through the mountain to the high plateau below.

Our solid hardwood cribbage boards are modeled with actual topographic data to capture any place on earth. Each board has a storage space for three sets of metal pegs behind a custom-etched stainless steel door. Boards measure roughly 350mm (13.5”) long by 190mm (7.5") wide by 90mm (3.5”) tall and are finished with tung oil for durability and a slight sheen. Additional options include a custom message or logo etched on the stainless steel door tag (32 characters max, +$10), and an engraved name, message or logo on the side or underside of the board (+$20 standard, +$40 with a contrasting filler). Side and underside engraving is sized to fit the board, typically no taller than 1 inch (25 mm). For a logo, send us a PNG through our contact form after you order, with your order number.
Our products are designed, crafted, and finished in Alberta, Canada.
Disclaimer: Because we use solid hardwood, some boards may have natural imperfections.
